My First Dotee Doll

CUTE!!!

See what happens when I get a little "me" time!?! As a dollmaker, of course I've been aware of art dolls. In fact I've even made a couple, here and here. But there's something different about Dotee Dolls. They are so fun and sweet. Sometimes "Art" intimidates me, but nothing about this project is intimidating- just fun! The lovely Australian woman, Dot, who created these dolls, wrote up a very nice tutorial here.

For the body of my dolly, which is only 3", I sewed up the two long sides of a rectangle and then closed one end with a running stitch, stuffed it, then closed up the other end in the same way. The whole project from start to finish took maybe an hour and a half, tops. It's the beading that takes the time and that is where it can be as simple or fancy as you like. If you search dotee dolls on flickr you will see lots of darling examples. And I know I don't have to remind you that these make wonderful Comfort Dolls.

If you have made one, or decide to make one, won't you post the link in the comments section? I'm having such a good time enjoying them. Each one is different and delightful!

  5. Hi Bettsi, thanks for the kind words about our Zoe (pug). I love the little comfort doll, I see you have been busy! I was just looking at fabric on line and once the final details of the kitchen are finished I want to make an EFA, I have already started another "old raggedy ann" and want to finish her as well. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by!
