Daisy and Rose

Sisters, sisters
There never were more devoted sisters...
Well, here they are. I wish I had gotten more photos, but by the time I got them done, I just wanted to get them to their new homes! I do think they turned out so cute. They are both made from the the book, Dolls to Make for Fun and Profit by Edith Flack Ackley. They are "old fashioned dolls" and they are fourteen inches tall and their clothing is sewn to their bodies.
The parts that took the longest were the boxes! I think in the future, I will try to make that easier. I do think it's nice to have the box, but it turns out that these were not as sturdy as I had hoped. I'll have to work on that concept a bit more.
Speaking of darling EFA dolls, you have to see this beauty made by my friend, Martha of JelliesJams. She will melt your heart!
Eventually, I would like to make and sell EFA's more seriously, but time constraints makes that so hard to do! I think commissions will work for me, if anyone would like to order a little sweetie of their own. Someday I will have more time for dollies! In the meantime, I'll just do the best I can.

  6. They are exquisite Bettsi! You've really inspired me to have a go at making my first doll. Well as soon as I finish my son's birthday quilt. LOL I do have a pattern for a "trick or treat witch" ready to choose fabric for, so it will happen. I love the way you've done their hair and the bow details.

Can't wait to see more! Hugs Melanie

  10. Hi Battsi; I'm enjoying reading your blog. I found it linked to nurse nancy's photo when I searched for EFA dolls on google. I'm looking for other EFA dollmakers to talk with about making the dolls.I don't have a blog . I just got my EFA book and doll patterns in the mail. I love the idea of collecting vintage fabrics and sewing vintage dolls. I love your beautiful EFAs. great blog.
