I'm Scrap Happy!

I've always been so inspired by Lyn's beautiful scrapwork on her blog, Molly Chicken. Things like this and this and especially this! I have some little girls in my life who are in need of birthday gifts so I'm going all out and making purses and accessories a la Molly Chicken. Edited to say: Autum, aka Creative Little Daisy, also makes beautiful patchwork purses and after looking at them again today, I realize that I was probably inspired by her work as well!

Last night I had a lot of fun creating the "fabric" for the purses. I really had to break out of my usual box and go "random". Yikes! I am usually very limited in the way I choose fabrics for a project. This was actually really fun! In fact, the strips were originally much wider, but after I pieced it the first time, I found myself cutting it again and again and re-piecing it to get more variation. I'm so happy with the way it turned out! Of course, now that I've looked again at Lyn's work, it seems pretty tame, but the girls will never know! I think it looks like a summer day which I think will be fun for the girls to get in the middle of winter.

Now I've got to get thinking about Christmas crafts!
