Anyway...the dress is cute and the sleeves have a much nicer flair to them then how it looks in my photo. Also, I think if I had picked a mocha brown fabric for the trim, I'd be happier. The black seemed right, but I see now that I should have stood back from my fabric selections when I was picking them out. Well, live and learn. I have to say that as far as workmanship, this is much, much, MUCH better than the clothing I used to sew in my twenties! Age does actually bring a certain amount of wisdom. I don't hate pins, basting or even seam ripping anymore. These things are good and help me achieve a quality product. Now if I could just fit in my quality product!
I think it looks very nice. The only thing I'd add is a head. I'm sure you look much more finished when wearing a head. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great!! I can't sew garments to save my life! I really love the whole neckline-down-the-middle-around-the-waist part! (I'm sure that's the technical name for it too right?)It would look good in brown too, but I think the black looks very sharp!
ReplyDeleteDid I hear you say you struggle with perfectionism?
ReplyDeleteI think you look gorgeous-even without a head. And if you'd made the dress with brown trim, the shoes wouldn't have worked so well. It looks very Japanoise.
It doesn't look bad at all! And it's certainly better than I could ever do, I am sure.
ReplyDeleteThe high waist on the dress makes you look as though you have very long legs - maybe you do anyway! I just notice those things because my torso is very long, and yet I have short legs. Not very flattering.
And what a WILD print!!
i think it looks fantastic! And I like the black too. Nice contrast. just lovely!
