One of my favorite blogs is My House Is Cuter Than Yours by Mary. When I first found her, I was a little put off by the name of her blog, but after reading her for a few months and seeing all the cute pictures of her house and crafts, I have to agree- her house IS cuter than mine! Anyway, I just love her whole midcentury vibe and the way she gets really into it. Lately, everytime I drive through a great fifties neighborhood, I think of Mary. Today I thought, "Wouldn't it be fun to document some of these neighborhoods before all their original style is gone?" Then I thought, "Flickr!" So, that's my confession and that's why I spent time learning my way around flickr! I'm going to head over there now and start a group called "Midcentury Neighborhoods". I hope others will join me because all these cute little ramblers are getting stucco and bump outs all over them. Let's try to get some photographed and saved before they're all gone. I'm going to call it midcentury because sometimes it's not always clear that it's a fifties or forties or sixties house. We're not going to be that persnickety! Of course, it's night now, so it will be an empty group! Tomorrow I'll try to actually upload some photos!

What a great idea for a group! I just joined. I live in a house built in 1950 and purchased by my family before the ground was even broken. For the last ten years, we have been lamenting this neighborhood's loss of character-- I would really like to take pix of the odd things people do to these houses. LOL
